BIOGRAGPHY OF EVY WRIGHT

Writer, Director, Actor, Producer and Teacher

 

EVY WRIGHT is a producer, writer, director, actor and theatre teacher. She holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts and a M.A. in Theatre History and Criticism. She has been a drama teacher and theater arts specialist for over 20 years. Ms. Wright was nominated for the Tony Awards 2019 Theater Arts Teacher of the Year, and acquired Honorable Mention at the awards ceremony. She just currently joined the faculty at the Denzel Washington School of the Arts as a high school Drama Teacher.  Her primary focus is teaching acting theory and application to beginners to advance actors. Ms. Wright has had the privilege of working with students as young as 1st graders to graduate students. Her philosophy is that teaching the arts is a vehicle for understanding human conditions and can help to address both creative and emotional needs of any one individual.

 

As a performer, Ms. Wright has appeared in numerous off-Broadway productions, most notably, Café Society at the 13th Street Repertory Theatre and August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone directed by Woody King, Jr. She has written and directed over 25 plays, both for general and young audiences.  She is currently in pre-production for a new television in which she serves as the creator, writer, director and producer. 

 

Evy Wright is presently developing and promoting other theater and television projects, while continually finding time to enrich her life through the arts daily.
